Stones and sweat and blood, that's what it takes to build walls to the glory of your god.
What a better way to worship him than creating a masterpiece ?
Several attempts, several failures.
You couldn't find the way to bring this glorious edifice to life.
That's when you made a baleful choice.
He brought to you designs imbued with magic.
He brought to you perfection, the price was your soul.
"What a great opportunity! " you thought, "this settles everything."
He then left, waiting patiently for you to repay him.
Eventually you finished your work, the greatest you've ever made.
But remorse, my friend, is something you can't do without.
So to outsmart the devil, you chose to be buried under these walls you've created.
He's tricked but so are you cause your soul will dwell here for all eternity.

Son of god, perfect creation, you are the bearer of light.
You couldn't stand this pathetic creatures your father love so much.
Coward, arrogant, hideous abominations.
You declare war to the almighty to destroy these imperfections.
This hatred you wield, as a sword, will betray you and make you fall.
The light you bear, will fade to black and vanish, to bring you despair.
You lose to your father, unbeatable enemy, you then get banished.
From heaven you fall in the depths of hell.
You lurk in the dark, digging holes to spy on these mortals.
God, disappointed again, punishes you for the second time.
Blasting the ground, he fills your holes with great brutality.
Once again you're defeated and left alone.
They do not deserve you pity.
Solitude and bitterness are your only company.
So you cry, hoping your tears can fill the void all around you, but you cried so hard.
Will the lake you created, hold your tears forever.

Robbing the Wyvern

rave, proud and strong, you are eager to show the world what you're made of.
For the love of your cherished ones, you're able to move mountains.
But for now you're seeking fortune, so your eyes lay upon the Wyvern's booty.
So many tales you’ve heard, time for you to find out the truth.
Bright as the sun, red as the blood in your veins. This ruby will lead you to your demise.
You learn all the Wyvern's habit so you know when to strike.
She likes to dive in the fresh water, swinging her wings like a playful animal.
But don't trust it, she'll rip you apart.
As you get closer to the big red gem, you feel overwhelmed by her presence.
You run, run for your life, but already you hear the beast roaring.
Flying towards you to eat you up.
The stone is cold against your chest, but you only feel the fire of her breath.
Within the flames, only the ruby will remain.

After 3 albums and more than 80 concerts in Europe, Japan, UK and Russia (including tours with At The Gates, Beyond Creation, The Crown, Hate, Mors Principium Est), the French Melodic Death Metal band Temnein is putting out a final EP called "Fables: Devouring Desires", which closes the band existence after 13 years. Musically, this EP blends classic Melodic Death with more progressive elements. Each song is about an old legend from a particular area of France, with a common line about greed.

This is the very pinnacle of the band's work. The amount of great songs is staggering. They don't experiment excessively, but what they do sticks forcefully in my mind. I can't single out a single best song, cause there's too much of them - The Cavernous Deep, Nonextence, Grit, Among Ashes and Monoliths and even Black waters have all set places in several of my playlists. This album hit me off guard, and it hit strong. One of the best in 2021
